Givbux Review – Lack of Transparency in Leadership
Operating on two main domains—givbux.com
and givebuxglobal.com
—the company is registered privately and has been around since 2017. However, GivBux fails to provide verifiable information on its leadership and ownership directly on the site. The founder, Kenyatto Jones (or Ken Jones), claims to be CEO, but this information appears mostly on social media. Previous encounters with regulators, such as a 2019 order from Washington’s Department of Financial Institutions, cite Jones’s involvement in misleading financial projections and securities violations.
What Exactly Does GivBux Offer?
On the surface, GivBux offers a so-called “super app” that allows users to make purchases, receive rewards, and donate a portion to causes. However, accessing the app is free for customers, leaving questions about how profits are generated. The app’s market has not grown as initially promised, with only limited downloads on popular platforms. If you’re thinking of jumping in, it’s critical to know if there’s a legitimate product behind the offer.
GivBux’s Compensation Structure: Is It Sustainable?
The GivBux compensation plan is based on affiliate recruitment, making it resemble the structure of a pyramid scheme. Affiliates can achieve ranks and earn through transaction volumes, affiliate fees, and recruitment. Some key points include:
- Affiliate Ranks: GivBux affiliates earn based on the number of active retail customers and recruitment levels. Higher ranks, like Regional Directors, require extensive recruitment and high transaction volumes.
- Recruitment and Residual Commissions: Affiliates earn through monthly fees and team performance, with caps on levels in the structure.
- Bonuses and Incentives: Bonuses are awarded based on performance and recruitment volume, with an extra 2% set aside from the entire app’s transaction volume to reward high-ranking affiliates.
So, Is GivBux a Pyramid Scheme?
GivBux’s model primarily rewards affiliates based on the recruitment of others, while products and customer activity are secondary. Despite claims of an innovative app, there’s little revenue generated from actual retail sales. In fact, GivBux’s incentive structures resemble the hallmark of a pyramid scheme.
The FTC explicitly states that MLMs relying on recruitment rather than product sales could be pyramid schemes. With most commissions tied to recruitment fees, the majority of GivBux affiliates are unlikely to see any real profit, leading to the typical pyramid scheme collapse once recruitment slows down.
Conclusion: What’s the Bottom Line?
If you’re considering joining GivBux, be aware of the risks. Pyramid schemes depend on a constant stream of recruits, and when growth stalls, so does revenue. For anyone looking into this opportunity, it’s essential to understand the implications, including the potential for losses as recruitment slows and commissions dry up.
