Unicity Korea Faces Questions Over MLM Bonus Payments

Unicity Korea is seeking to settle an investigation by South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) over allegations that the company exceeded the country’s legal limit on multilevel marketing bonuses.
The development was reported on October 21, 2026, with additional attention following on November 1.
Now, you might be wondering why this matters.
Under South Korean law, MLM companies generally cannot pay distributor support bonuses exceeding 35% of the relevant product sales value.
The KFTC investigated whether Unicity Korea worked around that limit by placing certain Korean distributors under its U.S. headquarters.
Let’s look at what happened.
How Did Unicity Allegedly Get Around the 35% Rule?
According to the investigation, some distributors operating in South Korea were affiliated with Unicity’s American headquarters instead of its Korean business.
The concern was that bonuses paid through the U.S. operation could effectively bypass South Korea’s compensation limits.
Investigators examined payments made between 2021 and 2024.
If those U.S.-paid bonuses are counted as payments attributable to Unicity Korea, the company allegedly exceeded the statutory 35% ceiling.
Here’s why that matters.
The purpose of compensation limits is to regulate how much MLM companies distribute through their bonus structures.
Moving distributors between corporate entities should not become a way to avoid local requirements.
However, the alleged violation has not been established through a final adverse ruling in the information available.
Unicity Proposes a Settlement Instead of Contesting the Case

Rather than contest the legal determination, Unicity Korea applied for a procedure known as a consent decision.
This allows a company under investigation to propose corrective measures that regulators can evaluate without necessarily imposing a financial penalty.
Unicity’s proposed changes include:
- Registering affected U.S.-affiliated distributors under Unicity Korea.
- Complying with South Korea’s support-bonus payment ceiling.
- Establishing a consultative body to monitor distributor compensation.
The KFTC has preliminarily accepted the proposal as sufficient to begin the consent-decision process.
That does not mean the settlement has been finalized or that Unicity has been formally found liable.
The regulator reportedly described this as the first consent-decision procedure initiated under the relevant door-to-door sales legislation.

Unicity Has Also Faced Questions in Vietnam
This isn’t the only regulatory issue associated with Unicity in 2026.
In July, Vietnamese authorities reportedly fined the company over violations involving its MLM operations.
The details and legal basis of that enforcement action are separate from the Korean investigation.
Still, the two developments highlight why international MLM companies must comply with each country’s financial and direct-selling regulations.
A compensation plan accepted in one market may not meet another country’s requirements.
Where Is Unicity Attracting Online Interest?
According to the supplied Similarweb estimates, Unicity received approximately 378,700 website visits in September 2026.
The largest reported traffic sources were:
- United States: 73%
- South Korea: 8%
- Canada: 2%
- Vietnam: 2%
These are estimated visits, not verified sales or distributor figures.
They do, however, show Unicity’s international online reach.
One question I would still like answered is how much of Unicity Korea’s product revenue comes from genuine retail customers compared with purchases made by participating distributors.
The reported KFTC investigation focused on bonus-payment limits. The available information does not establish whether regulators separately examined that retail-sales question.
What Happens Next for Unicity Korea?
Unicity’s proposed corrective measures now face further consideration through the consent-decision process.
If approved and implemented, they could resolve the investigation without the usual penalty process.
For distributors, the important issue is whether the company’s compensation arrangements become fully compliant and transparent.
I’ll be watching for the final KFTC decision.
The lesson here is simple: operating internationally doesn’t mean a company can set aside the laws of the countries where its distributors work.

True Wealth Is Found in Jesus Christ
Before I finish, I want to share something more important than business, commissions, or financial success.
Jesus Christ.
Jesus asks in Mark 8:36 what it profits a person to gain the whole world but lose their soul.
We can spend our lives chasing wealth, but none of it can give us eternal life.
Scripture teaches that we have all sinned and need God’s forgiveness (Romans 3:23).
And here’s the wonderful news.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead on the third day. He is alive!
Through repentance and faith in Him, we can receive forgiveness and eternal life. Salvation is God’s gift of grace, not something we earn through works (Ephesians 2:8–9).
If you don’t know Jesus Christ, I encourage you to read the Gospel of John and discover who He truly is.
Turn to Him and trust Him as your Lord and Savior.
Money comes and goes, but Jesus Christ is eternal.
All glory and praise to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
