MTC Education’s Michael Sloggett Sentenced to 33 Months in Prison
- MLM News
- September 22, 2026
Michael Sloggett, a cryptocurrency trader and prominent figure behind MTC Education, has been sentenced to two years and nine months imprisonment in Australia.
The September 2026 sentence stems from money-laundering conduct involving more than $2.6 million, along with separate drug-related offences.
According to reporting from the Townsville District Court, Sloggett will be eligible for release after serving five months, subject to a $1,000 recognizance.
For someone who continues to publicly market himself as a successful crypto trader, educator and entrepreneur, the sentencing adds an important piece of information prospective customers should know.
If you’re looking for legitimate ways to build income online, my good friend Dan offers a FREE training showing a crypto cash flow strategy that has helped people achieve approximately 3% to 10% per month while maintaining 100% control of their own funds (as with any investment, results aren’t guaranteed).
You’ll also hear from Paul, who teaches complete beginners how to build an online business using AI and proven systems.
Both have been faithfully helping people for years, and I’ve seen some incredible testimonies.
Most importantly, remember that our greatest hope is never found in money, but in Jesus Christ. These are simply tools that can help us become wise stewards of what God has entrusted to us.
Proof this works:

Now, let’s dig in.
What Was Michael Sloggett Convicted Of?

Sloggett’s legal problems date back several years.
The conduct involved transactions associated with Modern Wall Street, a cryptocurrency operation.
According to the court reporting, Sloggett helped clients purchase cryptocurrency while failing to maintain sufficient identifying records, circumventing Know Your Customer requirements.
He pleaded guilty to Commonwealth offences involving dealing with money reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime totaling $100,000 or more, including aiding or abetting such conduct.
The transactions involved more than $2.6 million.
Separate state drug charges related to testosterone and human growth hormone found during the investigation were also dealt with at sentencing.
Did Sloggett Know the Money Came From Crime?
This distinction is important because Sloggett has publicly emphasized that prosecutors did not allege he knew the precise origin of the money.
That’s true as far as the sentencing report indicates.
But it doesn’t tell the whole story.
The judge reportedly told Sloggett:
“You are not being sentenced on the basis that you knew the origin of the money involved.”
However, the court found the circumstances were such that it was reasonable for Sloggett to suspect the money involved was proceeds of crime.
That’s an important distinction.
Saying prosecutors didn’t prove Sloggett knew exactly where the money originated doesn’t erase the offences to which he pleaded guilty.
Sloggett Responds Publicly
Following his sentencing, Sloggett reportedly took to Facebook to challenge how his case was being portrayed.
His argument focused heavily on the fact that prosecutors weren’t alleging that he knew the specific origin of the funds.
He also portrayed his broader story as one of making mistakes, losing everything, rebuilding and returning to success.
People are certainly capable of making serious mistakes and changing their lives.
As a Christian, I believe deeply in repentance, forgiveness and redemption.
But genuine redemption doesn’t require us to rewrite what happened.
Accountability and forgiveness can coexist.
Sloggett’s Connection to MTC Education
Sloggett appeared in BehindMLM’s coverage of MTC Education in 2022, when he was identified as its Chief Visionary Officer.
Interestingly, MTC Education isn’t merely ancient history.
Current MTC-related websites still prominently feature Sloggett.
One current MTC Education marketing page describes him as the founder and says its memberships include cryptocurrency education, live coaching, market analysis, private community access and referral commissions.
So whatever may have happened to earlier versions of the operation, Sloggett remains publicly associated with the MTC Education brand today.
MTC Education Still Markets Paid Memberships
Current MTC marketing describes two membership options.
A “Student” membership is advertised at $200 per month, while a “Visionary” option is advertised at $211.99 per month plus a $100 activation fee.
Both advertise training, community features and referral commissions.
The website describes Sloggett as:
“Trader. Educator. Operator.”
It also makes numerous promotional claims concerning his trading accomplishments and the number of people he has trained. Those are claims made by Sloggett’s own marketing materials and shouldn’t automatically be treated as independently verified facts.
That’s particularly important given his criminal sentencing.
Potential customers should distinguish marketing claims from independently verified evidence.
What About Alpha Signals?
Sloggett has also been promoting trading signals and automation under the Alpha Signals name.
His current marketing describes Alpha Signals V2 as part of a broader suite of trading tools and claims Sloggett was ranked the world’s number-one copy trader on Bitget and received a Bitget Smart Trader Award.
Again, those are claims currently appearing on Sloggett-controlled marketing websites.
I would want independent verification before relying on claims like these when making financial decisions.
A polished website isn’t verification.
A screenshot isn’t verification.
A social-media post isn’t verification.
Evidence matters.
The Bigger Lesson
Sloggett’s sentencing provides another reminder of why due diligence needs to go beyond somebody’s online image.
Success photos don’t tell you everything.
Awards don’t tell you everything.
Follower counts don’t tell you everything.
Neither does somebody repeatedly telling you how successful they are.
Look for independent evidence.
Research the people involved.
Understand how the business makes money.
And never invest money merely because someone online appears wealthy or successful.
Final Thoughts: Accountability and Grace
There’s an important Christian principle here.
I don’t believe Christians should celebrate seeing another person sentenced to prison.
Jesus calls us to something better than that.
We can condemn wrongdoing without hating the person who committed it.
We can believe in consequences while also believing in redemption.
We can tell the truth while praying that someone genuinely changes.
Galatians 6:7 says:
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
Actions have consequences.
That applies to Michael Sloggett.
It applies to me.
And it applies to every person reading this.
But Christianity doesn’t end with judgment.
It leads us to the cross.
Because all of us have sinned.
None of us can stand before a holy God and claim perfection.
That’s why Jesus Christ came.
Jesus lived the sinless life we couldn’t live, willingly died on the cross for our sins and rose from the grave.
Through Him there is forgiveness.
Through Him there is redemption.
Through Him there is eternal life.
So while people may look at this story and see a crypto personality heading to prison, I see another human being who needs Jesus Christ just as much as I do.
I pray Michael Sloggett genuinely turns to Jesus and follows Him.
And if you’re reading this and don’t know Christ, don’t wait until your life falls apart before seeking Him.
Jesus said:
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6
Repent of your sins.
Put your faith in Jesus Christ.
Follow Him.
Money disappears.
Success disappears.
Our bodies eventually disappear.
But Jesus Christ is eternal.
